The Multispan challenge is aimed at encouraging researchers to find innovative ways of using its portfolio of MultiScreenTM solutions to gain deeper insight and understanding into uncharacterized GPCRs and help expedite the discovery of lead therapeutic compounds for clinical use.

(1) Research plan: All applicants are required to submit a Research Plan as instructed below (limited
to 450 words).
Describe which of the following three categories of Multispan’s products, technologies, or services best fits your research needs. In your description, include your rational, approach and potential impact of your research.
Category 1. Safety profiling award: Identify liability for up to 5 lead compounds in Multispan’s well-defined 32-GPCR assay panel implicated in central nervous system, cardiac, pulmonary and gastrointestinal safety/liability concerns.
Category 2. Assay development award: Develop a cell-based GPCR assay for your specific GPCR using Multispan’s MultiScreenTM Arrestin Sensor technology for HTS or evaluation of signaling bias of your compound lead.
Category 3. Assay-ready cell line award: Access well-validated MultiScreenTM assay-ready GPCR
division-arrested cells for up to 4 GPCRs to study your compound leads in multiple signaling
pathways.
(2) Current CV. The Research Plan shall be submitted with a current CV as a single PDF via the entry
form below.
(3) The Multispan Global GPCR Challenge is free to enter.
(4) Entry in the contest and the awarding of prizes shall be limited to Applicants who have a registered address in eligible countries. Multispan is a global company and invites participation from individuals from all over the world, except where participation is prohibited, licensed, or restricted by federal, state, provincial, or local laws, regulations, or agency/institutional policy.
(5) All submissions must be written in English.
(6) Entries are limited to one (1) entry per person and/or email address. Multiple entries will result in disqualification. Once an entry has been submitted, no further entries are allowed.
(7) At the end of the Competition period, three (3) winners will be selected by a panel consisting of at least two (2) judges deemed by Multispan to be qualified in the life sciences. The panel will comprise one (1) employee of Multispan and two (2) external, independent consultants employed by Multispan. The winners will be chosen based on, but not limited to: (i) technical assessment and (ii) scientific merit of the proposal.

1. GENERAL
(1) By entering the Competition via the Website, Applicants are deemed to have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions and agrees to be bound by them.
(2) Upon entering the Competition, all Applicants must submit all contact details requested by Multispan (which must include a valid e-mail address) which will be used for the following purposes:
(a) to notify the Winner that they have won a prize;
(b) to post the Winner’s name and institutional affiliation on the Website; and
(c) to comply with the Privacy Policy.
(3) Multispan reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time and for any reason.
2. APPLICANTS
(1) To be eligible for the Competition, Applicants must be (1) researchers, academics, or life science professionals currently engaged in active research relating to GPCRs, or (2) companies developing lead compounds targeting GPCRs for therapeutic applications.
(2) Applicants must be over the age of 18 unless specified otherwise. Minors under the age of 18 are not eligible. Prizes will not be awarded to minors whose entry is expressly prohibited.
(3) Entry in the contest and the awarding of prizes shall be limited to Applicants who have a registered address in eligible countries. Multispan is a global company and invites participation from individuals from all over the world, except where participation is prohibited, licensed, or restricted by federal, state, provincial, or local laws, regulations, or agency/institutional policy.
(4) All Applicants are solely and completely responsible for providing Multispan with accurate and current contact details. All information must be truthful. If not, the Applicant may be excluded from the contest in accordance with Section 7.
(5) The Applicant alone is responsible for the accuracy of the data submitted for entry in the contest.
(6) Each Applicant may only enter the contest once. Multiple entries are prohibited.
(7) Multispan reserves the right to exclude an Entrant from the contest in accordance with Section 6 if they enter more than once. Entries cannot be made on behalf of other people. If Multispan becomes aware that a person has entered under multiple names/addresses/institutions, then all entries from this person will be void.
3. ELIGIBILITY
(1) By participating in the Competition online via the Website, and by accepting these terms and conditions, you confirm that you are not breaching any laws in your country of residence regarding the legality of entering the Competition.
(2) Multispan will not be held responsible for any Applicant entering any of our Competitions unlawfully. If in doubt, you should immediately leave the Website and check with the relevant authorities in your country.
(3) By entering the Competition, each participant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these rules and the decisions of Multispan, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
(4) All determinations of eligibility are at Multispan’s sole discretion.
4. IMPLEMENTATION AND EXECUTION OF THE CONTEST
(1) When the contest ends, the winners will be notified by email or phone, no later than May 30th , 2021. Applicants declare their consent to this form of contact by entering the Competition. Multispan will be in no way liable for any failure or inability to contact any Entrant due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details provided by the Applicants or otherwise.
(2) Multispan will make two (2) attempts to contact a winner. Should Multispan be unable to reach a winner or a winner does not make direct contact with Multispan by May 31st , 2021, or fails to accept the prize, the prize will be considered to have been forfeited in its entirety. In this case, Multispan reserves the right to offer the prize to the submission that garnered the next highest score.
(3) The transfer of the prize will thus be handled in direct contact between the winner and Multispan in accordance with the provisions on notification of winning and expiration of winning provided in Section 4, Subparts 2-9.
(4) Any Winner must execute and return by email an affidavit of eligibility and a liability release provided by Multispan within 14 days of the date of notification. The affidavit must state that the Winner is not prohibited by law, employment, or contract from accepting a prize from Multispan.
(5) Multispan will send the prizes by courier or post to the postal address provided by the winner. Any shipping costs and customs duties cost shall be factored as part of the total award.
(6) The items that are presented as prizes in the Competition are not necessarily identical to the item that is won. It may differ in terms of assay, model, or similar attributes. Multispan reserves the right to select an item of similar function and quality.
(7) If the transfer of the prize is not possible or only possible under unreasonable circumstances, the winner shall receive an equivalent substitute. The winner shall also receive an equivalent substitute if the original prize as presented is no longer available (due to assay being unavailable due to circumstances beyond Multispan’s control, etc.).
(8) Prizes are non-transferable and are not redeemable for the cash equivalent or other substitutions.
(9) The right to claim the prize substitute is not transferable.
5. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
(1) The Multispan GPCR Challenge (the “Competition”) begins March 15th , 2021.
(2) All Competition submissions must be received by Multispan no later than 6:00 p.m. USA Eastern Standard Time (EST) May 15th , 2021 to be included in the Competition.
(3) Multispan accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, or misdirected entries including but not limited to entries not received due to technical disruptions, network or server failures, loss in service of online entry mechanisms, computer error or any other reason.
(4) Multispan is unable to enter into correspondence with Applicants who experience difficulties with entering online.
(5) Multispan reserves the right to cancel this Competition if less than ten entries are received.
6. PRIZES
(1) Each Winner will receive $10,000 in the form of Multispan products, related consumables and/or laboratory services.
(2) Prizes are non-transferable and are not redeemable for the cash equivalent or other substitutions, except as stated by Multispan.
(3) Multispan reserves the right to substitute any prize with one of equal or greater value. No refunds or credits are allowed.
(4) All taxes on the prize and reporting thereof are the sole responsibility of the Winner.
7. EXCLUSION FROM CONTEST
(1) Employees of Multispan, as well as their immediate family members and household members, are not eligible.
(2) Multispan may exclude Applicants from the contest without further notice if they violate these Terms & Conditions, attempt to interfere, or manipulate the course of the contest in any way or influence the contest in an otherwise abusive manner.
(3) Multispan reserves the right to reject any entries that are incomplete, incomprehensible, or otherwise deficient. Multispan also reserves the right to reject entries that are unlawful, indecent, racist, inflammatory, defamatory or which we consider to be otherwise harmful.
8. PRIVACY POLICY
(1) The Applicants recognize that Multispan may use contact details and other data including personal data supplied by the Applicants to conduct the Competition according to these Terms and Conditions.
(2) The Applicants also recognize that Multispan may (either by choice or at the request of a third party) disclose applicant information to relevant third parties including law enforcement for the purposes of the prevention of fraud, legal or other financial or regulatory reasons.
(3) By entering the Multispan Global GPCR Challenge Competition, you are agreeing to receive further information from Multispan in accordance with our privacy policy, which can be found here.
9. PUBLICITY
(1) Each Winner consents to the use by Multispan of their name, institutional or company affiliation, and image in any future newsletters, press releases, announcements, or other marketing literature.
10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND LEGAL RIGHTS
(1) All results and data, in addition to any intellectual property (IP) arising from the Winner’s use of any Multispan product or service belong to the Winner. IP may include confidential technical information that may become protected by patentable inventions, designs, original written works, or diagrams.
(2) Each Winner agrees to acknowledge Multispan in any scientific publications, lectures, or presentations that arise from the use of any Multispan products or services won in the Competition.
11. INDEMNITY; DISCLAIMERS
(1) To the full extent allowed by law, Applicants and Winners release, indemnify and hold harmless Multispan, Inc., its directors, officers and employees from all liability for any damages, injury or losses to any person (including death and bodily injury) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from applying to the Competition or from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of the prize or participation in any promotion-related activity or participation in this promotion as a result of the Competition.
(2) Multispan has not made any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to any prize, including, without limitation, to such prize’s quality or fitness for a particular purpose.
(3) IN NO EVENT SHALL MULTISPAN, INC. BE LIABLE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, WARRANTY, OR UNDER ANY STATUTE OR ON ANY OTHER BASIS FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, MULTIPLE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SUSTAINED BY ANY WINNER OR ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY ARISING OUT OF MULTISPAN’S PERFORMANCE OR FAILURE TO PERFORM ITS OBLIGATIONS RELATING TO THE AWARD OF THE PRIZE OR PERFORMANCE OF SERVICES, THE POSSESSION OR USE OF ANY PRODUCT, WHETHER OR NOT FORESEEABLE AND WHETHER OR NOT MULTISPAN IS ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF DATA, DOWNTIME, OR FOR LOSS OF REVENUE, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OR OTHER FINANCIAL LOSS.
12. MISCELLANEOUS
(1) The Competition is sponsored by Multispan, Inc. of 26219 EDEN LANDING ROAD, HAYWARD, CA 94545.
(2) If required pursuant to local law or internal rules, each Entrant also represents and warrants that his/her/their employer or institution has approved participation in the Competition.
(3) All entries and their content become the property of Multispan, Inc. and will not be returned.
(4) This Competition shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of the State of California without reference to its choice-of-law doctrines.
